A Tourism Plan to Alleviate Rural Poverty in Nepal

Abstract:
In this paper, efforts of TRPAP (Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program) to the poverty alleviation objective of government through demonstrating sustainable tourism development model in rural areas, which is pro-poor, pro-environment, pro-rural communities and pro-women are explained. Its working modalities and achievements are presented. In the context of growing important of quality in tourism sector, recommendations are made to focus on past, present and probable visitors’ needs and expectations while developing product and to improve quality continuously in a planned and working-together approach.
